Farming & Agriculture Development

Agricultural farming provides the food for everyone on our planet, from wheat and vegetables to animal feed and livestock. As societies grow and demand for more diverse food increases so does the need for more farmland.

Atlantis CSP provides agricultural systems to shelter arid land from intense sun, whilst producing desalinated water for irrigation and our systems can even provide electricity for the day to day running of farms and machinery. Using these combined resources soil can be nourished back to fertile land through permaculture and cultivation.

Deforestation

At present the expansion of farmland is one of the main causes of deforestation, whether for direct cattle grazing or for feed crop production [1]. This method of attaining more land for our farming production is of course not sustainable, if we were to keep at our current rate of deforestation in less than 100 year all of the world’s rainforests would be gone [2].

Rainforests are essential to human life, not only producing oxygen and cleaning the atmosphere to help us breathe. Losing the rain forests would affect our water cycle, plus rainforests provide us with many valuable medicinal plants, and may be a source of a cure from some deadly diseases. So we should not be destroying these out unnecessarily.

Development & Sustainability

Our agricultural and desalination systems can be constructed at relatively low costs. With an innovative design and also combining with local resources and supply systems, large land areas can generate not only new fertile farming land but also produce abundance of fresh water and clean electricity.
